Name:Gum Springs Glen Location:Fairfax County, VA Project Description: Gum Springs Glen, located in the historic Gum Springs area along Richmond Highway in Fairfax County, is an example of a successful mixed-use project and public-private partnership in the County. The 60-unit independent senior living facility offers seniors of moderate income the opportunity to live in an affordable retirement community. It is conveniently located near retail areas and public transportation and adds further vitality to the Richmond Highway corridor, which is experiencing revitalization in the recent years. Fairfax County’s Office for Children operates a Head Start facility for children at the site, offering opportunities for intergenerational interaction and activities.
